his child after he was barred from a Ryanair flight.
The surgeon, who has asked not to be named, finished a shift at a hospital in Cardiff on May 25.
As he does every week, he left the hospital and drove to Stanstead Airport in order to fly back to Dublin where his family live.
At the check in desk it was explained that the certification he had from the NHS proving his essential need to travel was not valid.
The doctor challenged the Ryanair staff decision, who told him the rules had changed on May 17 when the traffic light system came into force.
Kristina is convinced her reason for travelling to finalise the sale of her home counts as essential, and was not told of the need for the Spanish document by Ryanair.
When asked about Kristina situation, a spokesperson for Ryanair said that the company complies with all government restrictions and alerts people to the need to find out the rules in their destination country ahead of flights.
“These passengers were denied boarding as they failed to meet the entry requirements for Spain in line with Spanish Govt regulation,” they said.
